Distance Education - web based computer training

PepSeq a web based computer training software package, and is well suited to Distance Education university students. Online computer training allows long distance education students to learn the basics with their lecturer, then complete their experiments from home. Online support is available from their lecturer, and the only online training software required is Internet Explorer (4.0 or higher).

Ten distance education students at Monash University Gippsland, Victoria Australia were given four peptide sequences in PepSeq as part of a biochemistry subject. Peptides ranged in length from 8 to 30 amino acids. Eight students completed their allocated experiments, and reported no issues.

Students studying by long distance education would be able to conduct this online training remotely, without ever needing to attend the university or college where it is being taught. Those who are continuing education (e.g. students doing a nursing or science degree in remote regions) would find this especially appealing.
